Today is a special day for my Timor. He did quite a good job today.
Let me share the tale of Mr. Timor, dubbed si Cupu biru by a friend.
My dad’s car broke down on Sunday. It stopped moving even an inch. We decided to take it to the workshop/garage. Guess what? No ‘derek’ wants to come to our house, since we live so far away. So, last resort si cupu biru harus derek deh.
Mr. Timor is quite old. He is 8 years old now. Well, for a car, it is old. Plus, my sister had been driving it, which makes the car aged faster. At least double the normal rate.
It was early in the morning when Mr.Timor had to wake up. The birds just started chirping, the sun had not even started showing its glow. Yeap! It was 4.45am. Timor had to start its old squeaky engine and prepare to pull a car twice its weight. (Read: Opel Blazer)
What made the trip tricky is because the distance is very far away. From Cengkareng to Gunung Sahari. It is comparable to distance between Chadstone to Melbourne, or Bandung Utara to Bandung Selatan. (Agak bikin2 sih karena gw ga tau bandung utara ke selatan sejauh apa..)
What makes it worse is that we don’t have a proper rope to pull car. The rope was tali tambang tipis. (Lucky it is not tali rafia) It was quite thin that we have to quadruple it to make sure it is strong enough. The length of the rope is now about 3 meter.
All preparation is made, I drive my Timor, dad is in his Opel. I started slowly, about 20 km/hour. I was quite worried because jalanan kompleks rusak berat. My intuition proves to be correct. Baru lewat kompleks, tali putus. We have to reset. This time the length of the rope is shortened. 2 meter.
We went again with prayers that we could arrive in Gunung Sahari safely. My prayer was not successful, yet. The rope, again, snapped in front of the tollway entrance. We have to reset, again. Now, the length of the rope is reduced to 1.5 meter.
This time I have to go through tollway, I cannot possibly drive 10-20 km/hr, so I start speeding up to 40 km/hr. I received a phone called. It’s my dad. He said, “Careful now.. The Opel’s brake is NOT functioning.” Alas!!!
Hmm.. 40 km/hr. In tollway. 1.5m apart. NO BREAK. Geez…
I prayed. Harder this time.
I really hoped it doesnt become worse after this. This time the prayer was a success. God knows my limit. Hehehe.. He wouldnt test me beyond. I would break down and cry.. Hehehe..
So, we arrived at the garage safe and sound. Not so sweaty and very grateful for the fine cool morning. Very grateful indeed. Because, if that morning was not cool, my Timor could have extra perspiration, alias, radiator heat increase. That would be normal for Timor, but that would be double MOGOK.
Anyway, I am typing this blog to honor the cupu biru. He has made another achievement. Cheers mate!
ps: I am alone in the office. Somehow, the stereoform is moving itself. (A/C kali ya..) And.. there is some noise.. Err… Bodo ahh.. *Buru2 cabut…
